Location and program

Location of the Geophysical Summer Field Camp: Minusinsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russia.

The field camp will be based at the Minusinsk base of the “Evenkiyageofizika” geophysical service company. This base has industrial-type seismic exploration equipment, geophysical test site with boreholes and test pond, infrastructure for accommodation, food and studying. Access to this infrastructure provides a unique opportunity for students to try out exploration-type seismic profiling.

Near the base (6 km) there is Bystryanskoe gas field discovered in the 70's. A number of wells were drilled, natural gas is constantly seeping from one of the wells so that one can see fire all year round. Geophysical experiments will be done on the territory of the Bystryanskoe gas field.

Basic Methods

1. Seismic profiling
Seismic profiling by the CDP seismic reflection method using electromagnetic pulse source of seismic waves (“Yenisei” KEM-4, SAM-100) and a multichannel seismic station (Sercel 408 CMXL).
